Former O&H Vehicle Technology apprentice, Stephen Curley, appointed as factory manager

February 2022

O&H Vehicle Technology has confirmed the promotions of Stephen Curley and Paul Wilson to factory manager and plant foreman, respectively, as we shape up for our biggest year in our 34-year history.

Since becoming part of Venari Group in 2019, O&H Vehicle Technology has made exponential gains in terms of innovation, efficiency and quality in ambulance design, engineering and production. As the company prepares for significant growth in 2022, we have confirmed new factory management in the form of two of our longest serving team members, with a combined 49 years of service at the factory in East Yorkshire.

Stephen Curley started his career as an apprentice coachbuilder at O&H in 1996 and has since headed the quality department whilst simultaneously achieving company accreditation to, and maintaining, ISO9001 and ISO14001.

Paul Wilson started at O&H in 1997 as a vehicle mechanic before moving into the electrical department which he then supervised and led from 2018.

Both played pivotal roles as the company worked throughout the pandemic, without closing, to answer the calls from NHS ambulance trusts to ‘keep the wheels turning’.

Factory manager, Steve Curley, commented on his appointment: “After recently celebrating my 25 years of service, I’m over the moon to have been given the reigns of something which I truly believe in.

“As a 34-year-old company, O&H has seen some tough times in the past, but as part of Venari, we’ve got much more than a second wind and it is my job, with the support of the board and flanked by my colleague and friend, Paul Wilson, to help drive us forward as a clear UK market leader in the ambulance industry.”

Venari Group CEO and managing director of O&H, Oliver North, added: “In Steve Curley and Paul Wilson, we have two of the most dedicated, detailed and passionate production leaders in the industry who have constantly and consistently strived to improve the company and themselves.

“Both Steve and Paul know every square inch of the Goole factory and every screw that is required for every build. They lead from a place of experience in high performance with compassion and empathy.

“Through the peak of the pandemic, all essential manufacturers – like O&H as an ambulance manufacturer – were, I feel, obligated to step up and support with the national effort. At the time, both Steve and Paul jumped back ‘on the tools’ without hesitation to support that effort and the company. These appointments highlight the lack of ego and unnecessary bureaucracy in exchange for an unrelenting desire to succeed against the biggest order book in O&H’s history, and I’m excited to see their careers continue to flourish alongside their success.”
